Editorial independence
ChooseMyPower.org is editorially independent. Our rankings and recommendations are based on a transparent methodology — not on which providers pay the most. We do not accept payment to alter rankings, rewrite reviews, or feature specific plans above their merits.
Affiliate relationship
We may earn a referral fee when readers enroll in an electricity plan via our partner link to ComparePower.com. This fee does not change the rate you pay (the price you see at enrollment is what you pay) and does not influence our rankings. ComparePower.com is a sister site within the same network, which is disclosed throughout this site.
Rate accuracy
Plan rates change frequently. We update our database daily from public sources, but the rate displayed may not exactly match what the provider quotes you at sign-up. Always verify on the provider's official Electricity Facts Label (EFL) before signing.
Not financial or legal advice
Content on ChooseMyPower.org is for general information only. We are not financial advisors, attorneys, or licensed energy brokers. Always consult appropriate professionals for advice specific to your situation.
Geographic scope
Our content covers the Texas deregulated retail electricity market. Most cities served by Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, and TNMP fall in this scope. Cities served by municipal utilities (Austin Energy, CPS Energy, El Paso Electric) and most electric cooperatives are not deregulated — those customers cannot shop for a retail provider regardless of what we recommend.
